    • "He wasn’t as emaciated as the living skeleton he’d been. His light blue eyes weren’t bloodshot and roaming, unable to make contact. Fuck, this was what I always imagined Jason would look like after we got married and lived together for years. He was my Beautiful Man, my Pretty Boy grown up. This was the Jason of my dreams, not the nightmare I’d left behind."I couldn't even begin to imagine the shock Adam felt at seeing Jason, five years later, outside his bistro in the foothills. Adam h [...]

    • 3.5 HeartsThis romance was about two people who needed to part ways, one for the push into rehabilitation, and one for emotional self-preservation. I know the feeling well. I have no doubt that everyone knows someone, knew someone, or is otherwise touched by drug addiction. It is a really hard topic for me to read about. I have a personal stake in the hope that comes from that future date when the person you love is whole again. That is why I was very interested in this story.

    • I am a sucker for a second chance romance and when that second chance romance includes an MC who was an addict who is now clean and doing well for themselves? Well, my ginger butt can’t resist reading about them because I love redeemable people. This is a short story told from the POV of Adam de Leon, celebrity chef and owner of a small bistro in the town of Foothills Pride. Adam is doing well for himself even though he quietly laments the love, lover and friend he lost in Jason five years ago. [...]

    • I don't have a lot of books that are an automatic read, but this series is in that club. I've been following the intersecting lives of the characters since the first story, and I get a little thrill when I see there's a new one.Up until now, Jimmy was my favorite character, with Fredi a close second. I have to say, Adam's now in the running as a top contender. I'm not often a fan of the gruff-with-a-heart-of-gold types, but Adam's intriguing. Maybe it's his love of cooking and the fact that he k [...]

    • (Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews with a copy provided by the author / publisher for an honest review. Rated 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.)I believe that this is my favorite of the four Foothills Pride stories so far. I’ve always thought that Adam deserved his own story, and remember mentioning it to the author at one point. I’m so glad she listened and gave us his tale!We met Adam in previous portions of the Foothills Pride overall storyline, and he has always intrigued me. A big bear of [...]

    • Adam is a famous chef who has given up life in the big city to move the quiet hills and run a small bistro. Though he loves what he’s doing, there comes a time where he has to decide if that’s all he’ll be or if he wants to grab some more limelight.Jason aka David is his ex. Jason was a druggie who pulled Adam into his drama and when Adam walked away, he wasn’t sure if Jason would even make it out alive from the depths of his addictions. When Jason shows up in town – 5 years later – [...]

    • This is the first book I've read by Pat Henshaw, and I'll definitely be reading more by this author in the future. When Adam Fell is a good, quick read and is a second chance romance. I thought both main characters were strong individuals, both with their own things to overcome and both emerging stronger in the end. As individual characters, they were both likable and easy to relate to. My only hesitation is how quickly they came back together once Jason (David) returns. I understand that it hap [...]

    • When Adam FellM/M4 starsAnother nice story by Pat Henshaw. David comes back into Adams life years after they broke up. David is trying to show Adam he is a new man, not doing drugs. I thought he does a good job of this. It was odd that he came back using a different name than before though, changing your name doesn't mean your different but he did a nice job of showing Adam he has changed. I thought Adam and David worked well as a couple and fought together to get their new business up and runni [...]

    • Story of Jason now known as David and Adam. Jason had a addiction problem, so Adam leaves to start New life away from the big city. 5 Years later David arrives clean and wanting to start fresh with Adam. In a relationship within a matter of days but was good storyline. Story of how people can overcome hurdles and get better. Fast Paced.

    • Reunion/second chance story usually made me mad, but this one didn't, and it's maybe because of the minimal drama and that Jason/David truly repented and changed his way of life.

    • 3.5 Stars. This is the fourth book in a series, but can be enjoyed on it's own.Adam is a world-weary celebrity chef who's always lamented the loss of his first love, Jason. They were two scared kids growing up in Stone Acres and left for San Francisco the first chance they had. While Adam scrabbled to become a chef, Jason was at his side, but things got muddled. Jason started using drugs and their partnership spiraled with his addiction until it hit rock bottom. Adam had to walk away, fearing th [...]

    • This title was originally reviewed for Prism Book Alliance® If you have not been following the adventures of the Foothill Pride boys up to this point, you can easily pick up the latest installment, When Adam Fell, without reading the first three books. However, I recommend them. For complete Review see prismbookalliance/?p=4

    • Original review on Molly LollyFour stars!I loved that we get to see Adam’s story. He was intriguing when we saw him in previous books with his quirky mountain bistro that’s only open seasonally. But I so didn’t expect what we got. It was heartwarming to see this second time around story go so well. I loved Jason/David. You could see his transformation even if we don’t know him before his phoenix. David stands up for himself throughout the story and it was wonderful seeing him happy and h [...]

    • *** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review. ***Adam de León is a famous chef, who just left everything behind and moved to Sierra Foothills after he realized there was nothing else he could do to help his lover, Jason, who was a drug addict and slowly killing himself. Unable to see him die, he goes away, and the last thing he expected was to have Jason on his doorstep five years later, looking very much alive and healthier than he'd seen him in years. Jason [...]

    • A Joyfully Jay review. 3.5 starsThis is the fourth book in the Foothills Pride series, and while it could be read as a standalone, I think readers will appreciate the book more if they have read the previous stories as those characters make appearances in this story as Adam’s support network.Adam is a different kind of character than I am used to reading in most of my M/M romance stories. He classifies himself as a thug chef – complete with a scarred cheek. Despite his tough guy appearance, [...]

    • I enjoyed this quaint, adult, second chance MM romance. It was a quick, easy read--low on angst, honest, and heartfelt. When David shows up at Adam's bistro five years after their break up to plead for a second chance and prove that he has changed, though Adam doesn't know what to do, it's clear that the love between them hasn't died. Adam and David had been boyfriends since high school, when the tougher, burly Adam used to protect Jason, his "pretty boy," from small hometown bullies. David has t [...]

    • When Adam Fell (Book 4)Unlike the previous books in the series, When Adam Fell is a second-chance love story. We met Adam (Stone/Guy's) best friend in W.I.A.N and again in Redesigning Max. He's a former Celebrity Chef who owns a small bistro in the hills of their town. After many years his ex pays him a visit to give him a check to with what he will. Adam had left Jason back in San Fransisco when it became apparent that Jason's love for drugs was more important than his love for Adam. Alive and [...]

    • I enjoyed this installment in the Foothills series - 3.5*A tale of second chances - after Jason got a second chance of life as David, he is after a second chance with Adam. Adam also gets a few life lessons and learning how to be more adult, especially when dealing with the old town boys.I liked Adam and David's story. Adam obviously harboured guilt over how he left Jason though David definitely seemed a truly differenet person - having grown up in the interim, in the school of hard knocks. Davi [...]

    • 2.5 stars. I'm afraid I was completely the wrong audience for this book. Personally, I don't believe people can or will fundamentally change. Once a junkie, always a junkie. From my standpoint, Adam was a pushover and a doormat, and Jason a junkie who traded drugs for love. I hated both of them. I wanted to like them, but I didn't. Their love won't last. I saw no significant changes in Jason, or David as he wanted to be called for becoming a new man, or whatever, and Adam forgiving him for years [...]

    • A good story about Adam and his past coming back at him when he least's expect its. Adam a celebrity chef left the hustle of the city behind him for some peace and to start over again. All set up and all is good but when he opens the door he cant believe his eyes at who's before him. After 5 years since Adam has seen Jason he has problems with it that puts him in a tale spin. Thank goodness his friends, Stone and Jimmy are there to help him through it.Jason is back to say sorry but that not all [...]

    • I was a bit disappointed in this one. Just like with book 3, I thought this story was incomplete and rushed. There were big gaps in the story. David and Adam just basically washed away the past without sitting down and talking things out. David is a completely different man, comes in and takes over and Adam just rolls with it. I did like their new dynamic and thought seeing more of them falling back in love would have been a great part of the story. We got to see quite a bit of Stone and he was [...]

    • I love this series and was eagerly looking forward to Adam's story and its a great story but I felt like it could have been more. Just greedy I guess but more John and more Xavier please

    • 2016 Rainbow Awards Honorable Mention: Behr Facts and When Adam Fell by Pat HenshawIt was a nice, comfy series, a little bit of drama but of course I KNEW there had to be a happily ever after.

    • Great characters, and I loved reading about the transformation of the old jail into a new restaurant. Hopefully we will see more of these guys in future tales.
