Jersey Festival of Pool 2012
Jersey Festival of Pool 2012The Jersey Festival is unquestionably the most famous, successful and eagerly anticipated English Pool event of the year...any year!

24 previous Festivals in some of the best known hotels on the island has helped make Jersey the biggest and longest running event of its kind in the World with many people returning year after year

There are numerous reasons why people do so, but undeniably top of the list, as most regulars will confirm, will be the special camaraderie, and ebullient atmosphere that not just prevails but dominates the week and it's something in the refurbished surrounds of St Helier three star Mayfair Hotel that we invite everyone to be a part of in 2012.

Universities Pool CouncilPRESS RELEASE

UPC Season 2011-12

The Universities Pool Council is pleased to announce the details of its programme for
the coming season with competitions to decide the champions at individual, team and
representative level. With many previously strong teams losing key players due to
graduation and the expected participation from new teams, the season ahead looks
to be wide open.

The season kicks off with the UPC Nine-ball Championships over the weekend of
25-27 November 2011 in Riley's in Liverpool. Defending champions University of
Manchester will be in attendance with the primary aim of retaining their silverware,
however they will face stiff competition from a variety of angles.

WR WOT 3 Report.....
Welsh Open TourThe third event of the season got underway at Rileys pool club, Newport this weekend, and as usual there were plenty of surprise results. Congratulations to Tom Price who beat Kristian Phillips 8 4 in the final. Tom beat some quality players in the draw, as he beat Ben Davies 6 2, Jamie Morray 7 3, Ryan John 7 3 and Kristian Phillips in the final 8 4.

This was the first tour title win for Tom and puts him in the top 8 seeds for event 4 draw in November.

Here are the results from the Last 16:

Last 16

Andy Corten 6 2 Zach Wilkinson
Rich Gifford 5 6 Jamie Morray
Simon Ward 6 2 Wayne Smith
Ben Davies 2 6 Tom Price
Kristian Phillips 6 2 Paul Hawkins
Ryan John 6 0 Steve Richards
Mark Bowen 6 0 Luke Sanges
Craig Marsh 6 3 Oly Bale

Quarter Finals

Tom Price 7 3 Jamie Morray
Craig Marsh 7 3 Mark Bowen
Simon Ward 6 7 Kristian Phillips
Andy Corten 5 7 Ryan John

Semi Finals

Kristian Phillips 7 2 Craig Marsh
Ryan John 3 7 Tom Price

Tom Price 8 - 4 Kristian Phillips

So the third event ends with a new face in the final. This now being a qualifying tour to gain selection to the Welsh world rules team for 2012, anything could happen in this quality field of players.

The following players will now be seeded for event 2:

1) Ryan John
2) Kristian Phillips
3) Craig Marsh
4) Tom Price
5) Huw Salmon
6) Simon Ward
7) Ben Davies
8) Russell Burgess

Our club tour final was between Andy Corten and the talented Zak Shepherd. Andy was always the stronger player as he ran out 5 0 to win the third club event and his second appearance in the final. The club event is open to players who have not played for Wales A in the past 2 years or any professional pool player.

I would like to thank Martin and his staff at Rileys Newport for their support during the day. The tour will be back at Newport later in the year.

If you wish to enter the 2011 tour please call or drop me an e-mail on Tel: 07854 918403 E-mail

Look forward to seeing you all at tour 4 in November.
